Using your Makita BL1840BSC2 Starter Pack is easy. First, charge the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah batteries (BL1840B) with the included charger (DC18SD). It takes about 90 minutes for a full charge. You can use the integrated L.E.D. battery charge level indicator to keep an eye on the charge. Once the batteries are charged, insert them into your Makita 18V tools. This pack comes with a free XVJ03Z 18V LXT Li-Ion Cordless Jig Saw (Bare Tool), which you can use for various cutting jobs. When using the tools, remember that they are protected by Star Protection Computer Controls™. This means they're safe from overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. However, don't push the tools beyond their limits. For maintenance, keep the batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use. The impact-resistant outer case and shock-absorbing inner-liner of the batteries are designed to protect them, but still handle them with care. The charger has a built-in fan to cool the battery during charging, which helps with faster charging and longer battery life. If you have any issues, the pack comes with a 3-year limited warranty. Also, note that these batteries are only compatible with Star Protection tools, which are marked with the Star Symbol™ and/or a Yellow Battery Receiver under the tool.
